Second signings

Second signings are essentially what they sound like. Generally, in the case where a contract requires a parent, the person who signed that contract previously will need to then perform the role of the parent. To achieve this, they will sign a second contract, that of the parental role.

This is often done before a child is born, though in most cases it can be done before or after conception. If a child will be adopted, signing is done before adoption.

In some cases, such as The Story of the Farmer's Three Daughters, three generations can make the situation more complicated.
